Administrative Assistant/Church Secretary
Position: Administrative Assistant/Church Secretary
Reports To: Executive Administrator
Location: Onsite at Ivy Baptist Church, Newport News, VA
Employment Type: Full Time
Overview:
The Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Ivy Baptist Church. This full-time position serves as a central point of contact for the congregation, staff, and community. The Administrative Assistant supports ministry offerings, church events, and administrative functions with professionalism, compassion, and efficiency. This role requires a high level of organization, discretion, and a heart for service.
Responsibilities:
- Communication & Reception
- Answer incoming calls, take messages, and provide general information about church ministries
- Serve as a welcoming presence for visitors, members, and community inquiries
- Compose correspondence on behalf of the church and Pastor for engagements, general information and bereavement
- Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate filing systems and operate high-tech copying equipment
- Update member information in the church database
- Coordinate and schedule the Pastor’s calendar
- Assist with the New Members process and pathways
- Follow up daily with the Executive Administrator and staff regarding scheduled events
- Ministry & Event Coordination
- Coordinate Baby Blessings and visiting groups for Sunday services
- Serve as point of contact for weddings, funerals, and bereavement committee
- Assist bereaved families with compassion and logistical support
- Support benevolence applicants through the application process for Trustee review
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of office experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to work at a rapid pace and manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, congregation, and community
- Commitment to the mission, vision, core values, and goals of Ivy Baptist Church

Digital Content Creator
Position: Digital Content Creator
Reports To: Digital Marketing Strategist

Overview:
Ivy Baptist Church is seeking a visionary and creative Digital Content Creator to elevate how our church engages online and connects with people digitally. This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to shape the future of our church’s digital presence, attract new audiences, and amplify Ivy’s mission to Love, Grow, and Serve.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about crafting compelling digital content that not only grabs attention but also builds meaningful connections between Ivy, our congregation, and our virtual community, both online and offline. The ideal candidate will have a forward-thinking approach, understanding that how we present ourselves digitally directly impacts how we fulfill the great commission and grow as a church.
Responsibilities:
- Content Vision, Strategy & Creation: Lead the vision and execution of engaging digital content strategies that align with Ivy’s mission and vision. Conceptualize, design, and produce digital content (videos, photos, graphics, reels, podcasts) that is:
- Original and engaging
- Tailored for multiple platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and more
- Shares Ivy’s story in a way that resonates with multiple audiences, including Millennials, Gen Z, and older generations
- Reflects Ivy’s voice, values and branding to maintain a cohesive digital presence
- Content Workflow Management: Manage the content production workflow, from brainstorming and scripting to editing and publishing, to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Social Media Team Leadership: Guide and mentor the Social Media Ministry Team, providing clear direction and fostering collaboration to deliver high-quality content.
- Trend Spotting: Stay ahead of trends in social media and content production, ensuring Ivy remains relevant and innovative in its digital approach.
- Metrics & Reporting: Track performance metrics (engagement, reach, conversions) and share insights with leadership to demonstrate the tangible and intangible impacts of the digital ministry.
Qualifications:
- A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Ivy’s mission and values.
- Proficiency in video editing, photography and photo editing, and graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Da Vinci Resolve, Canva or similar platforms.
- Proven experience in digital content creation, social media management, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to translate concepts into visually compelling digital content.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret social media metrics and use insights to inform and refine content strategy.
- Ability to conceptualize and execute creative ideas independently or collaboratively.
- Ability to stay flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of the church’s online audience and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment in order to partner with ministries and leadership to understand their goals and translate them into effective digital campaigns.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to track and interpret digital metrics.
- A passion for storytelling and connecting people to Christ through digital platforms.
- Portfolio showcasing a diverse range of video and digital content projects.
- 3+ years of experience in video production, digital content creation, or related roles.
