Meet Pastor and First Lady Swann

Pastor Kevin G Swann

Rev. Dr. Kevin G. Swann is the Senior Pastor of Ivy Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia where he began his service in 2006.

 

Dr. Swann has an earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree (both in Counseling) from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA), (1993 and 1995 respectively). Dr. Swann also has an earned Doctor of Ministry Degree from South Florida Theological Seminary (2010). Dr. Swann has received two honorary Doctorate degrees from St. Thomas Christian College (2008) and Canaan Theological Seminary (2009).

 

Currently, Dr. Swann is an Adjunct Professor in the Religious Studies Department at Hampton University. In addition, Dr. Swann has received numerous community service awards. Most recently he was the recipient of The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC) 2021 Peninsula Humanitarian of the Year Award.

 

In 2007, Dr. Swann co-founded and is the co-host of the “Pastor’s Study,” a weekly radio broadcast that airs on WHOV 88.1FM, in Hampton, Virginia.

 

Dr. Swann is married to Tatrece Dunlap Swann and they have two children; daughter, Kameron and son, Cole.

Tatrece R. Swann serves alongside her husband, Dr. Kevin G. Swann of Ivy Baptist Church. Dedicated to the vision of the ministry, she faithfully serves as the Department Leader of Family Ministries, where she oversees all aspects of the leadership team for the Men, Women, Married/Engaged, Singles, and Senior’s Ministries which are ALL committed to the spiritual development and growth of every member of the family while the children and young adults fall under the leadership of the Youth & Young Adult Minister.

 

Lady Swann is the current leader of the Women’s Ministry at Ivy, and while a sought-after facilitator of women’s conferences and seminars, she has a passion for women, and the commitment to ensuring that Women’s Ministry is designed to inspire and challenge women to develop strong relationships with God, and with their families. She is intentional to ensure that all aspects of the ministry focus on the building up of the total woman – spiritually, physically, and mentally, and that they would realize their value and worth through the image of God.

 

Committed to fulfilling her role in bringing women together, she piloted Ivy’s first Life Group ministry, which was designed to build connection, foster encouragement, and facilitate spiritual growth during the pandemic. She also hosts events which highlight and bring awareness to women’s issues and offers an atmosphere of support and empowerment. A woman of many gifts and talents, Lady Swann is a Systems Engineer by profession where she leads the Systems Engineering division for a global technical organization based out of the Northern Virginia area.

 

Lady Swann also serves as the Vice President for Kevin Swann Enterprises, a 501c3 non-profit community outreach organization founded by her husband Dr. Swann in 2008 whose purpose is to develop community-based programs that offer support to disadvantaged and underserved populations. She lends her time to various organizations and initiatives which focus on women’s empowerment, development and education. Lady Swann is a native of Richmond, VA and is married to Dr. Kevin G. Swann; together they are the proud parents to Kameron and Cole, the absolute joys of her life.
