About the youth director

Greetings to All!!!

My name is Denise Nichols. I was born in Buffalo, New York to the parents of Elizabeth and Willie Newsome. However, more importantly, my spiritual birth occurred at an early age as I accepted Christ in my life. Throughout my school days, I received high honors and eventually became Valedictorian of my High School class. I was Battalion Commander in JROTC and Vice President of Student Government Association.

After high school, I matriculated to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa; and in 1984, I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While in college, I was a member of the Student Christian Association, the University Choir, service sorority, and became a youth missionary. The Lord gave me the opportunity to work in the ministry in a poverty stricken area of Missouri. Also, while at the University of Alabama, I met the love my life, the now Reverend Kenneth Nichols, and we were wedded five years later. From that union, we have three children, Ashley Nicole, Kenneth Dwayne, and Christian John.

The motto for our family is “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. We look to Him, the author and finisher of our Faith, to guide our family. For the past twenty years, I have served in various capacities in the church and specifically youth ministry. From teacher, instructor, facilitator, mentor, deaconess and director, the opportunities to reach out to youth has been endless. It is our desire and mission to continue to spread the love of Jesus in every facet of our life.

We pray God’s direction and guidance to help our youth to reach their full potential and develop an intimate, personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
